Amazon Watch is so excited for our Celebrity Amazon of the week, Chrissy Teigan, who has posted a baby bump picture on Instagram announcing her pregnancy! You may be wondering what a Rainbow baby is; A rainbow baby is a name coined for a healthy baby born after losing a baby due to miscarriage, infant loss, stillbirth, or neonatal death.
About 10 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage. But the actual number is likely higher because many miscarriages occur early in pregnancy. The UK National Statistics show that in 2021, the stillbirth rate in England rose to 4.2 per 1,000 births. The statistics are depressing to think about. Depression in these women is staggering and can sometimes destroy their lives.
Therefore, it is only right to celebrate when they conceive once again. Chrissy lost her baby Jack in 2020 due to a partial placenta abruption. She posted on Instagram, “On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.” The tragic loss affected her immensely but she has moved on to share her joy and excitement about the new pregnancy.
She admitted that the journey to get to the rainbow baby was not always smooth as she had to go through IVF (in-vitro fertilization). In the US, 1 to 2 percent of all births annually are via IVF. In February, she posted about the injections and how they make her bloat which may mislead people. Chrissy went on to advise her followers not to interrogate women if they are pregnant because it may be a very sensitive issue.
All in all, it has been a journey for Chrissy, and we are happy to celebrate and cheer her on as she waits for her rainbow baby.
