The African Development Bank (AfDB)’s initiative, through the Africa digital financial inclusion facility (ADFI), and Y’ello digital financial services (YDFS), the fintech subsidiary of MTN Nigeria, have signed an agreement for a $500,000 grant initiative to enhance women’s access to financial services in Nigeria.

Following the momentous #EndSARS movement, which took place a year ago, the Alliance of Business and Professional Women (ABPW) has announced the launch of a transformational initiative aimed at supporting Nigerian youths to create a propitious country.
The project, tagged “Youth Connect Initiative,” which is in response to the need for Nigerian youths to be recognized as valuable contributors to economic and social development, particularly those classified as ‘disadvantaged,’ would equip youths from underprivileged communities with skills to provide gainful employment.

Leading women-focused NGO, 360 Woman Africa, has continued with its mandate to empower women and bridge the skill gap for women in business and careers. The team held a two-week training during which women, between the ages of 22-55 were trained to reach their highest potential in their various areas of interest and also enjoy access to grants of up to N500,000.

Blue Java Banana is unique in taste and look, a native of southeast Asia and flavoured with an ice cream-like consistency of vanilla; it gets its nickname as the ‘Ice Cream banana’ in Hawaii. Because of its unique vanilla custard flavour, it’s known in Fiji as the ‘Hawaiian banana’, nicknamed as ‘Krie’ in the Philippines and ‘Cenizo’ in Central America. They are silvery-blue in colour when unripe and turns pale yellow when ripe, with creamy white flesh. They are not as popular as Cavendish bananas which we usually eat. They are a hybrid of two species of Southeast Asia Banana— Musa balbisiana and Musa acuminata.
FAO Calls for Measures to Give Women and Girls Equal Tenure Rights and Access to Lands, Fisheries and Forest
Lands in communities around the world are mostly owned by men with women having little access and right to ownership of land for farming. Thus, the FAO is calling for measures to make it easier for women and girls to have equal tenure rights and have access to lands, fisheries, and forests.
