The 1000 Campaign

Valerie Lobo is just another ordinary teenager completing her A-Levels and working her way through high school but, now she is an ordinary teenager with fantastic A-level results changing the world one sanitary wear at a time. In 2021 after launching her campaign with a few friends, namely The Helping club, Chengeto Foundation and Go Zimbabwe, she changed the lives of hundreds of girls across her country.

Lariba Abudu’s Ghanaian Widows Summit: Touching lives, Inspiring Hope

The Covid 19 pandemic has affected many communities in diverse ways, including socially, mentally, and economically; but the individuals who had the shorter stick were those who were already in challenging and unfortunate circumstances. Before the pandemic, data from the Widows and Orphans Movement (WOM) showed that a significant proportion of the female population in Ghana are widowed (Over 700,000 representing over 86% of all widowed persons in the country as of 2010). Also, with statistics showing that men are the significant breadwinners, especially in Africa; one can only imagine the struggles widows withstand. The pandemic has only escalated this issue with a total of over 5000 deaths due to covid in the past two years in Ghana alone. Fortunately, 500 widows had their holiday season completely elevated recently thanks to Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu’s great and very touching initiative.

Vaccinations in Pregnant Women

In August of 2021, after the world had been battling the Covid-19 pandemic, the FDA approved the first vaccine against covid-19. Many countries followed and began distributing and approving various vaccines against this disease from that point on. Currently, 60% of the world population has received at least one vaccine dosage, and as more research is done, more individuals are getting vaccinated. Throughout all this development, scientists have been investigating and further testing how the vaccine would react to vulnerable populations, including children and pregnant women. Finally, some breakthroughs have been revealed.

Look Good, Smell Good

Last week, I boarded a public transport somewhere, and I was almost choked. Sitting close to a lady left me gasping for fresh air all through the time I was in the vehicle. I was fortunate that the journey was faster than I anticipated. Many passengers, like me, have had to deal with similar experiences. Body odour is a relatively common challenge that can affect a person’s quality of life, which can be controlled and avoided by considering a few essential elements.
