Black Arab women are drawing inspiration from global anti-racism protests to fight back against longstanding discrimination and Middle Eastern beauty standards that favour light skin and straight hair.

Black Arabs in the Middle East and North Africa, who descend from sub-Saharan Africans, suffer social marginalization and unequal job prospects and are often subjected to racist abuse and derogatory portrayals in the media.

KEPSA and Educate Global to support women-owned businesses

Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) has entered into a partnership with Educate Global (EG) to support women-owned enterprises and build the resilience of value chains in essential industries.

Educate Global is a private equity manager focused on impact investments in midsized businesses in the Food, Health and Education sectors.

As part of Educate Global’s commitment to the Billion Dollar Fund for Women, they will work with the KEPSA management and its Gender and Youth Sector Board to build the investment potential of Women-owned enterprises in the Food, Health and Education sectors.

Melania Trump to Celebrate 100th Anniversary of Women’s Right to Vote

First lady Melania Trump on Monday announced she would be launching an artwork-focused project for children to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote.

The 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote, was adopted on August 18, 1920.

The “Building the Movement: America’s Youth Celebrate 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage” initiative will solicit drawings from children between grades 3 and 12 depicting imagery related to the suffrage movement and culminate in a White House art exhibit opening later this summer, according to a news release.
